Asia Cup 2025

The Asia Cup 2025 concluded in spectacular fashion as arch-rivals India and Pakistan faced off in the final at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 28th September. India emerged victorious, defeating Pakistan by five wickets to secure their ninth title and remain unbeaten in the tournament, marking their seventh consecutive win in Asia Cup history.

Put into bat first, Pakistan’s openers Sahibzada Farhan (57) and Fakhar Zaman (46) provided a solid start with an 84-run opening stand, putting India on the back foot. However, India’s spinners turned the game around. Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel bowled with precision, triggering a dramatic collapse. Kuldeep took four wickets, while Varun and Axar claimed two each. Jasprit Bumrah also chipped in with two wickets as Pakistan lost nine wickets for just 33 runs, finishing at 146 all out.

India’s chase began shakily, losing top three batsmen Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Suryakumar Yadav for just 20 runs. Tilak Varma (69* off 53) then took centre stage, steering India through the tense chase. Partnerships with Sanju Samson (23) and Shivam Dube (33) put Pakistan under pressure, and finally, Rinku Singh hit the winning boundary in the last over to seal India’s thrilling victory.
