Delhi Capitals (DC) batsman KL Rahul etched his name into the IPL record books with a brilliant half-century in match number 40 of IPL 2025. He became the eighth batsman to score 5000 or more runs in the IPL and also the fastest batsman in IPL history to reach this milestone. He achieved this feat on Tuesday, April 22, with a match-winning innings against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Importantly, wicket-keeper batsman Rahul broke David Warner’s record to become the fastest to 5000 IPL runs. Rahul reached the mark in 130 innings, while Australia’s former star David Warner achieved it in 135 innings.
India’s batting legend Virat Kohli is third on the list, having reached the milestone in 157 innings. Kohli is also the highest run-scorer in IPL history.

The wicket-keeper batter helped DC chase down a target of 160 runs in the LSG vs DC match. The match was held at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 57 runs and guided DC to victory by 8 wickets.
This was his third half-century of the season. Captain Axar Patel also remained not out with 34 runs, as DC defeated LSG by 8 wickets. Earlier, opener Abishek Porel gave a solid start with a half-century (51).
